I tested it on my home network and it worked awesome.
It will be very helpful to me since I run a little unofficial computer-tech business, so now I don't even have to leave my laptop :P
It only requires a small download for the server and client, and they can connect to you through a generated link you send them. Connect: Microsoft SharedView "Microsoft SharedView is a fast, easy way to share documents and screen views with small groups of friends or coworkers; anytime, anywhere. Use SharedView to put your heads together and collaborate - create, convey, and communicate…across physical boundaries, through firewalls, and down to the smallest details." |

Dell Support has something called Dell Connect, and it's basically the same thing. They did it with me. I had to agree that if they saw anything suspicious, they could report me, so I didn't really want to do it, considering I have GB's of software/movies. But they didn't go into personal folders. |

Theoretically they could just install something when your AFK that allows complete control without limits. But this sounds like a beefed up VNC by windows. nice find but i am anti-microsoft so i guess it isn't that useful for me. But my friends would love this. (The ones who dont know what linux is) |

Windows already has Remote Desktop Connection - but if you connect to some one else with RDC they will be logged out - but you get *full* control over their machine. Windows also has Windows Remote Assistance where you share your desktop to someone else and can see what they are doing (similar to SharedView). Both RDC and WRA are part of Windows.
In addition there are many commercial apps that allow you to share your desktop, and hackers like to port scan to see if they are running on a target machine! One to look out for is VNC (there some free versions, and some commercial versions) which work well over a network. Since it is free and works well, network admins like to install it on users machines, and that is a hacker's dream (most network admins are a bit dim, but think they are god).
However, from what I can see SharedView is a nice app if you want to share your desktop, for example to allow you to telecommute. If there is a way to share sound through this then you could have virtual meetings without going to work! If they don't have sound, then you can use Skype. Microsoft already has a commercial product to do virtual meetings called Live Meeting that costs a lot of money in subscriptions, so this SharedView *could* be a way for a small business to save a lot of money.

How do the hacker know you have this program and to take control of your computer he first have to go through your firewalls and all that, and when he is inside he don't need to use Sharedview to take control.
Don't hang me up on it if i am wrong it is only what i think, and that from experience i know that hacking is very difficult. (Don't know about if it is for other people but it is for me. )
P.S. If i am wrong please correct me. |
