Your local cellphone store, mobile carrier or service provider might be smarter. I have heard of stories where these unscrupulous people sell these cellphones as brand new (shiny phone inside, still in plastic wrap, etc.) when in fact, it is not!
Why am i saying this? Coz i read this column in our local newspaper, this columnist was lured by an offer of a gift phone if he signed up for another 2 years, so he went to his carrier and got his free, "brand new" nokia cellphone. everything in the box looked factory fresh, so of course he assumed that the cellphone was indeed new.
After about 5 days of using it sparingly,(it only has 5 names in the contact list) out of curiosity he checked its life-timer. Its a built-in meter that logs the gadget's talk-time, and he nearly dropped the phone when he learned that his supposedly "new" and rarely used gadget was no "virgin" but a "veteran" already that had logged in 6604:10 meaning 6,604 hours (not minutes, take note) and 10 minues of talk time!
He returned the phone and not even one person from his carrier could explain the anomaly. They dont even know how to access the life-timer. So he had to teach it to them. And then he filed for a request for a new phone.
Now for you to avoid being "scammed", just press this code on your nokia cellphone while on standby to access it's hidden life-timer: *#92702689# (this is actually *#WARRANTY# with the 2nd "R" replaced by a space (0). On some cellphones, type a straight *#WARRANTY#).
The display then comes on with the phone's serial number, the month and year of its manufacture, the month and year it was bought, the date of its last repair, and the LIFE-TIMER that indicates the talk time logged so far. (even if you reset your collective call log time, (which i did) the life timer will be unaffected, so there's no escaping the accuracy of the life-timer!) So when you buy a new phone, it should be "0000:00". The four zeros stand for hours while the two last zeros stand for minutes. Vendors cant reset it to zero, but it can only be reset by putting a new software version into the phone.
So there. As i end this post, i have a feeling that a number of people reading this right now who have their Nokia cellphones within their reach are actually checking out their life-timer as they read this. Am i right?

Can anybody tell me why its happening? | if its brand new and after 3 charge/discharge cycles and its still has a short battery life as compared to whats normal for a nokia phone or whats stated in the manual, i suggest that you take it back to the store where you bought it and compalin about the battery and demand for a replacement. take note that you might have your bluetooth on at all times thats why its draining very fast? a new phone thats used heavily for 1 day will typically be charged everyday, based on my experience. |
