I found this website about making money with library books. I bought the system for $9.99. Basically, how the system works is that you search for books that have sold on, none other than, eBay for whatever price range you want, but a price of at least $100 is recommended. You do the search under books, non-fiction, in completed listings. Then you go to your local libraries website and look up those books and if they have it, you put it on hold with your library card number. Depending on which county you live in, you may be able to transfer books between libraries to the location nearest you. Once you check the books out at the library, go home, take out your digital camera and take some detailed, clear pictures. Auctiva hosts pictures for free. Give an honest description and make sure that you put in the item description that it is an ex-library book. It's best to list them in auction format so that you can get the most possible money and always let it run through the weekend which is the busiest shopping period.
Eventually, these books are going to become due back at the library. If you sold them, of course, you can't return them. All you have to do is go into the library and report them lost, when you see that the due date is arriving, and pay the fee. If you want to stall on paying, you can just renew them. Most libraries let you renew books up to two or three times before having to return them. Sometimes, it depends on if a particular book is on hold by another patron and how much supply of that book there is, but that's usually not the case. If your book doesn't sell, which is rare because you researched it, just return it. The great part about this is that 9 times out of 10, a book will sell for more on eBay, than the library cost of it is, so that spells PROFIT.
