Exactly what I think, Chad:

I think they should put adverts in between (not during) programs so that it bothers nobody, and make it free.

Alternativly, use the BBC iPlayer and you get all BBC's programs for free (no license)

not sure this would work much longer seeing as how you can now watch freeview on your ps3

also you need a tv licence to use computer equipment as you can watch tv online , and mobile phones due to most of these being able to receive tv channels

I'm sure I read that the technology exists to view your tv/monitor image from a distance by analysing the EM interference it gives off...

no it's not, the law states that if the apparatus is capable of receiving a televison signal then a licence is required wheter you are using it or not. sorry
