I have heard a system reset will fix the problem.

Sorry folks "according to the original video" (which you may not have seen) the only way to get the spending restriction turned off is to phone Sky.

In earlier posts I did warn that those with a spending restriction would be stuffed after a while.

Genius. Ive not tried it but it works in UK apparently.

Sky does know about this loophole but they also can't fix it, not for the foreseeable future anyway. Here are the steps to get your free PPV's. Enjoy!

1. Locate your phone line going into the back of the Sky box.

2. Cut through this phone line anywhere (about 3/4 length down)

3. Strip it and you will see 4 wires. Keep the black and red on one side and the green and yellow on the other.

4. Throw the other bit of the phone line that goes into the wall away or keep it if you like but you'll have no need for it.

5. Now you need one of the 9V oblong batteries (75p) and you can use one of those PP3 Battery connectors (20p).

6. Put the red and the back wires on one side of the battery and the green and yellow wires on the other

7. Hold it in place (or clip on the battery connector) then go to your box office film or whatever, pick it and put your pin it as usual, it won't charge you. If you get a "please connect telephone" message - you haven't stripped the wires enough, the battery is not connected or is dead.

8. After the screen clears you can disconnect the wires from the battery. You will never need to reconnect your phone line back to your TV. Sky updates through the satellite on your house and not through the phone line like some people think.

9. VERY IMPORTANT - Never reconnect your phone line back to your sky box or you will be charged for everything you have ordered using this method. Now every time you want to watch a PPV just repeat stages 6. 7. and 8.

I suspect you don't have to go to all this trouble and the following (if followed exactly) would also work:

1. Pick up a normal phone that's on the same telephone line as the Sky Box connects to.

2. On that phone dial a number that gives the unobtainable tone, or your own number to get the engaged tone.

3. Plug the Sky box into the telephone socket and select your PPV. At this point the Sky box will be unable to dial out.

4. Once watching your PPV remove the Sky box from the telephone socket.

5. Hang up the phone used in step 1.

That would put your phone out of action while you were watching the film though wouldn't it which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Actually No - as I understand the original post once you have started watching the PPV you can disconnect the phone line and then (for my suggestion) hang up the phone.

Hi been trying this today and I keep getting a message saying telephone line busy, which stops me geting movies or games. Followed the instructions to the letter and even swaped which wires go on which terminal of battery, but no joy.

Can anyone help me????

I suspect Sky might be onto it then - the way I understand this method is that you try to fool the Sky box into thinking that the line is busy - so it gives you the film (or whatever) and will try to phone later on.

From what you are saying it looks like the Sky box will not do anything until the line is clear.

hey people sorry to here that sky have clued up to it.
getting back to business anybody out there got the touch to do the same thing with virgin media cuz i,m abit pisssed about going like £3 £4 over me credit limit and their turning off me channels,broadband and landline.if anyone can help hit the site most thanks.

From what i've been told this loophole has been partly shutdown, in that it no longer works with freesat from sky which it used to, but now only if you have a active sky contract, and yes, sky are onto it and releasing a software patch via their frequant updates. Damm it!!
