Has anyone notice the large difference between the bandwith they are supposed to recieve and the actual bandwith obtained.

On my line I am supposed to recieve 8mb according to the speedtests I only recieve 4 .
Everyone should check there connections and post their results here I'm sure it will be interesting.

i need to know how such progs work.... all i know is that the company gives u 1/8 of ur network speed...

Notice a lot of providers say up to 8mb or whatever they offer. This means that it is dependant on how close you are to the exchange and on how busy the network is.

speakeasy's speed test I heard was the most accurate one out right now. Speedtest does not show you your actualy results because i was on the phone with my company and they said my actualy speed and it was way above speedtest's "guess"

Wouldnt it, most likely be an approximation, and not pin pointed speed? Peace

Well im using aservice which has "2.5mb speed" most i ever got was 1.2mb. And on speedtest it was about 1.3mb. So i guess it is an approximation. Not to mention i believe that you are connected to a hub for your neighbourhood. If lots of people use this hub, slower speeds, less people, higher speeds. So it depends on your area as well.
