VOIP with an Incoming Calls Number

Hi all, i'm quite sure I saw this posted on here before but I can't find it anywhere anymore! I recently got myself a headset as I'm wanting to use it for various reasons 1 of them being for phone calls via VOIP. What i'm looking for is a provider that also gives you an incoming calls number so that my friends and family can call me etc. now i know that Skype etc do this but they require you to spend money with them for the priveledge which isn't what I want to do immediatley, i'd like to get it all set up 1st and then if and when I choose to, add some credit to it! Now, I don't need anything flashy, just something basic, no sign up/subscription fees and gives you a number that anyone can call you from any phone also must be UK based or at least work for the UK and not have any extra international call charges for the people that want to call me!
Any help will be gratefully appreciated or maybe even the link from this site if it's on here somewhere.

The best way to go with this is to sign up with sipgate, they will give you a FREE local geographical number that people can use to dial you

they will let you make a couple of hours of free trial call to dozens of landline numbers in the UK and to different countries, when the trial calls run either buy some credit or sign up again with a different email address

Cheers Regen, haven't seen you about for a while! I'll certainly check this out and report back my findings. If I remember rightly I think I already signed up to sipgate. I'm sure i'll get it all going eventually

EDIT:- Cheers again mate, working perfectly for incoming calls as I checked it by calling one to the other as it gives you a land line! And the other bonus is that Sipgate also has an emergency calling feature that most others don't offer aswell! so at least in all i've got a landline without the line rental and just PAYG when needed! cheers again!

I've been using VOIPSTUNT.

Ok, so you have to top-up (£12), but you get free landline calls in the UK, and a voip-in number.

the top-up lasts for a good few months, and you can call international mobiles for free.

I only ever used the free minutes up, when calling a girlfriend in USA every night, and even then- the free minutes come back after a week.

Thanks for the info but at the time I was looking for completely free set up and also get a free landline number for others to call me which is exactly what I got from Regenerations post and to which i'm still using now with no problems at all. anyway, thanks again mate, might be a good one for others though!
