I have been speaking to my brother via VOIP as he is living in America for the summer but its not very often we are both in or up and about at the same time due to time differences.

We have been having to plan when we are going to both be available to talk so if this works it will be great.

I use Talkster. Found it on youtube at

I live in the US and when I call my friends in Germany or the UK, it is just like making a local call -- which happens to be free for me. And just yesterday, I did a group call with a friend in Australia, a friend in the UK and a friend in the Czech Republic, and we were all on the line at once, but it was a local call for everyone!
You can talk as long as you like, and as often as you like. They've never asked me for my credit card and you don't have to download anything or give them your email address. You have to listen to a 10-second ad only at the beginning of the call, but I don't mind that because after that I can talk for as long as I want.
I think it's pretty cool and I thought you guys might want to check it out.

Try Skype aswell, they're not only VOIP...they've got deals too.
We use Skype for all our calls now: we've got a Skype phone which is like a normal phone except that all our landline calls are free

but for talkster you get 10 seconds to tell the other line to ring u back, its not simply a case of ringing and hearing an advert right?

Thanx for the tip, I use MSN and i believe its alot better than Skype. I find that there is alot of interference with Skype, but with MSN i have no issues whatsoever. Give it a go!!!

Hi. The problem with Talkster is that some countries that you call to have per minute charges (for the person you are calling) for incoming calls. I called my mother-in-law in Mexico, and she was charged 1 peso per minute (about 10 cents US). Arnele
