Mathematics and Poker

Let me begin by congratulating Randy Hewines and Dave Scharf for initiating
a Canadian magazine devoted to poker. Why a Canadian magazine,
you may ask, given that in some sense the game of poker is unaffiliated with
any country, although there still are many places in which popular local games
are played with a reduced deck instead of the standard 52-card deck. I believe
the existence of a Canadian poker magazine speaks to the strength of the
game in Canada, especially in the provinces of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
There is now a respectable schedule of major annual tournaments in Alberta
and Saskatchewan.
The rules of the game are the same essentially everywhere, but there are
issues surrounding the game that arise in common for Canadian venues. So it
seems to me there are some compelling reasons for a Canadian poker magazine.

This is just a two-page pdf introduction. Nothing useful. It seems to be all over the 'net though, I'd be curious to see the full text if it's out there somewhere.

Playing poker with less than 52 cards, guss you cant play full ring?, I couldent see any link on this thread, but if you get in to poker the math is good to know but sometimes knowing too much is a downfall, math does not apply to a bluff (unless you are real good), most games are won by style, if we all play by math the winner is determind by luck, also very hard to learn.
There is no beating the system, only knolage to help you with your game.

How can you pwn at Blackjack? Even if you play perfect strategy the house still has the edge and you will lose in the long-term. Card-counting's a different matter of course, but that's extremely difficult to do these days.

Most forms of poker are played with a standard 52-card deck. Just one deck. Anybody can invent their own variant of poker though, so if you want one which uses twelve decks with all the sevens taken out then go for it.

The link I gave you in the other thread where you asked how to play poker will teach you what you need to know.
