This would in fact be governed by exactly the same as begging, as it is covered by the same statutory provisions that cover begging.
Street Collections and house-to-house collections usually require a permit or license from either a local authority, the police or other local authority (depends on area).
There is in fact legislation called the Charities Act 1992 and The Charitable Institutions (Fundraising) Regulations 1994, which can make this a criminal offence.
You also have to consider tax implications, because not only would you be committing a criminal and civil offence, but you would also be in trouble with the tax man...... unless you wish to fill out tax forms and declare the earnings.
I bet it took me less time to find that on google then it took you to think of the idea, so you should also think about these things a little more!
A risk of a criminal record for two offences, and a potental fine for a civil crime, isnt worth a couple of hundred quid! |
