Hi

just watched the video on how to reclaim your bank charges back so think im going to give it a go.

I dont keep any statements so first thing i need to do is contact my bank and request them.

Anybody done this from scratch like this before and how long does it normaly take.

Thank you very much.

I cant say for definate but im sure i can remember 1 of my mates saying she reclaimed her bank charges back within 6 weeks.

Might be totaly wrong and it might be different for everyone but im pretty sure there is only so long they can make you wait and then you automaticly win the case.

Well unfortunately it depends on how quick you react and the bank responds.

First off you need to send a letter to your bank requesting a list of all charges over the last 6 years.

Once that you receive it back you then need write to your bank to inform them that the charges are unfair against the rate set by the office of fair trading which is £15 per charge, most banks charge £30. Failure to do so will result in legal action.

You need to be descisive to it's easier to get the £15 difference back than it will be to get the whole lot.

Not that its impossible to get it all back but it may require actual legal action rather than just a threat.

I have an email covering the whole thing from start to finish step by step including template letters and bank addresses.

If anyone wants it PM me and I will forward on the email I received

For me it took about 3 months. This was partly due to laziness by both parties, i.e me and the bank. Over the 3 months, naturally the charges kept on growing, like a pubescent teenager, but they did all get refunded. Make sure in your letter you include why you feel you should be refunded, word it carefully, using good vocab and correct spelling, punctuation, how you feel miss treated and abit about your previous credit history, if its good. For example, if your always over-drawn and all that, then dont make that a key point in your letter. And this is up to you, but threaten that you will close all your accounts and move banks, i did include this, and i know that sometimes it works really well. Hope this helps a little. Peace
