If you have been given a ticket and can't fight it or are found guilty, don't despair. There is still one thing you can do. If you absolutely have to pay your ticket, then overpay it.

If your ticket is for $20.00, then pay $22.00. If it's for $100.00, then pay $110.00. Just be sure that you pay more than you owe. Here's why.

In most states, your ticket will not go on your record or be sent to deduct insurance points until your case is cleared. This means you have paid your fine and all is well. When you overpay, the court system will send you a refund check.

If you cash this check, your case is done and all records (including insurance) is updated and you will be penalized. If you don't cash this refund check, the case is still considered pending, and your records are not updated against you.
