We talk about the best ways to make these services work for you! So how do these services work? Seems like a scam and looks like a scam. But thousands of people each week are receiving free gadgets from ‘giveaway network sites’. These are genuine companies that are making millions out of giving away free stuff. How? Well - to qualify for a free product you have to sign up to 1 trial service from a choice of different companies. Including online DVD rental, credit cards, online betting, Royal Mail, Web Hosting and mobile phone companies. Some of these trials are free and you can cancel your subscription at any time. I’m guessing I don’t need to explain what you should do when your free subscription expires??! Once you’ve signed up to a service, you’ll be required to get a number of other people to sign up to the network as well, depending on what product you want. You’ll do this by sending out a unique referral link (you’ll be given this when you sign up). For example you currently have to get 8 referrals to receive an 80 GB iPod Classic and 10 to receive a Playstation 3 (40gb). Getting people to sign up is where most people fall. It can be tough to get people to sign up if you don’t use any effective referral strategies. Most people solely rely on sending an email to everyone within their inbox, hoping that enough of them will be up for joining. Unfortunately this very rarely works. This is due to the fact that people are skeptical of the internet. In particular, sites offering services that “sound to go to be true”. In most cases I would recommend that you stick to this way of thinking. When something sounds to “good to be true” – it probably is. So how do you know that these sites are genuine? More importantly – how do you persuade other people that these services are real? Well a good place to start is by watching this BBC report on YouTube: This report was shown on Watchdog on the 10th May 2007 and explains exactly how these marketing companies are making money. In other words there’s no catch! It’s a win win situation for everyone. I suggest you include this link (http://www.internetmoneyreport.com/freestuffyoutube) within any literature used to promote your referral link. Click on the link below to visit one of the best giveaway networks currently on the internet. Please read the rest of this post and implement some or all of the discussed tactics to ensure that you get the best results out of your referral campaign. The Giveaway Network So how else can I get my referrals? There are two very important rules that you need to remember when starting your referral campaign. Use the power of numbers and don’t give up. You have the internet at you disposal and you can use it to get you referral link out to the masses. The following couple of paragraphs will take you through a number of methods that you can use to get your referral link in front of thousands of other internet users. Don’t expect to get all of your referrals over night. It won’t cost you any money to get your product, but it will cost you a little of your time. Perseverance is key to making this system work. Facebook The most obvious way to gain referrals via Facebook is by sending a message to everyone within your friends list. You may get a couple of people sign up, but I wouldn’t rely on it. There are much more effective ways to get your link in front of people. Firstly I suggest you join a couple of Facebook groups. Try and find the groups that have high subscription numbers. The higher the better. Then post a message about the “giveaway” on the group wall. Make sure you include your referral link and a reference to the BBC report (you’ll be given this when you sign up). But be careful! Don’t just post a blatant advertisement. People will just see this for what it is and ignore it. Take a look at what other people are talking about and then try and work your ad into the forum. You’ll find this easier if you join groups that tend to talk about the technology your promoting. Try and make your message sound like a genuine recommendation. Another part of Facebook you can use is the ‘market place’. Log into your Facebook account and find the ‘market place’ link within the left hand navigation. This section of Facebook allows people to advertise stuff they want to flog. Find a section called ‘free stuff’ and post an advertisement for the ‘giveaway’ service there. Remember to include your referral link and the link to the BBC report. Visit Facebook for more information: Click Here YouTube If you’ve got a webcam, why not make a video testimonial. Simply record yourself talking about the ‘giveaway networks’ and then upload it to YouTube for free. Try to make the video as entertaining and informative as possible. Including hints and tips within the video is always a good idea. Feel free to use the methods discussed here, but please don’t blatantly plagiaries this text. Make sure you include your referral link within the description of your video and give it a catchy title like; ‘Get Free Stuff – Free ps3, psp, xbox 360, iPods’ or ‘Hints and tips on getting Free stuff’. Visit: YouTube Use Instant Buzz This is a cool little free application that you install into your web browser. Each time you load up a new web page a text advert appears within the Instant Buzz toolbar. This text ad is totally non-intrusive and will not affect your web surfing experience. For every advert that appears at the top of your browser, your advert will appear at the top of someone else’s. When setting up your ad, you’ll need to create a catchy title to entice people into clicking your ad. For more information : Click Here Advertise on Gimme4free This is one of the best ways to easily get referrals. Unfortunately this is not a free service. Basically you pay for your referral link to be advertised within a banner on their home page. The advertising packages vary, but on average you’ll pay about £12.99 for 200 clicks on your link. For more info visit: Gimme4free Use Traffic Exchanges These are sites that have been designed to aid webmasters in gaining more visitors to their web sites. You can also use these services to promote referral links. You simply register (for free), submit your link and then all you need to do in generate traffic credits. You do this by viewing other people websites. These services vary, but you typically get one visitor to your site (or link) every time you view someone else’s site (or link). For a list of the best Traffic Exchanges visit: http://www.thetraffictickets.com Refer your friends As I said earlier, this is not the most effective way to gain referrals – but is still worth doing. I suggest you don’t send a bulk email to everyone. The most effective way of getting your friends to take this service seriously is by sending individual messages that you customize for each particular person. Remember to include your referral link, the BBC report link and it might even be a good idea to refer them to this forum post (Find the link in the address bar at the top of this page). Follow your message up with an actual conversation. You’ve got more chance of persuading them to join if you talk to them face to face (or by phone). Mask you referral link This is not a direct way to promote your link. It’s a method that may help improve the results of your referral campaign. It can be off putting for people if they notice that you’re promoting a referral link. The best way to deal with this is to mask you link with a domain name. This is when you take a domain name (i.e. .com) and get it to forward visitors to another link (In this case, your referral link). I suggest that you try and find a domain name that is relevant to this ‘giveaway’ service. You’ll find a great little tool for finding relevant domains here: Domain Suggestions If you need detailed instructions on how to ‘mask a domain’ please contact me and I’ll post a tutorial on this forum. You can currently register a .com domain for £3.51 at GoDaddy. (Offer expires on 12/06/08) Click here to recieve the special offer These are just few examples of how you can promote your referral link. If you know any other effective ways of promoting referral links or you discover any while experimenting with your referral campaign, please post them within this thread. Here’s that link again to the best ‘giveaway network’ currently on the internet… The Giveaway Network Good luck and please let us know how you get on. |

But I've also included some very useful information that could help people get some free gear. I've been experimenting in internet marketing for the past year now and I’ve picked up some useful tricks along the way. So yeah ok, I want to get some free stuff and I've had some great success in the past with the techniques I discussed. But I also wanted to help others with my knowledge. Not only that, I was also interested in hearing other peoples views and ideas on the subject of referral promotion. I’m sorry if you guys feel that this was breaking the forum rules, but was just trying it write an information post (with a little bit of promotion) to spark off a healthy discussion. Also this post has only been copied from a word document and then pasted into one forum. This forum! I haven’t gone about posting multiple copies of this post on loads of forums. Once again I’m sorry if I've put anyone’s nose out of joint!? Dan Weaver |
