i got attracted by the title.. but i don't really see an explanation about what it is.. :S
or maybe i just missed the point completely?

some of these websites are a bit useless. Afterall you cant update and change the products on most of them so its not that good. If you can find one that lets you customize your content then that would be more worthwhile. The best sites are unique.

cant you edit a database?

Some of them are great like the ptc site
