What is website flipping?

I see this question posted in many forums so I would like to take this opportunity to answer this question for many of you.

Website Flipping is the process of purchasing a website, updating/improving/devolping or adding value to the website and then selling the website for a profit.

The term flipping has been borrowed from the real estate market where "house flipping" is a well known industry. In fact the processes behind each are almost identical but as far as popularity and awareness goes website flipping is well behind.

So why am I so excited about the industry?

Im not sure whether my writing style reflects my enthusiasm for the industry and if it hasnt let me tell you I am well and truely hitched onto the bandwagon. Website flipping is such an exciting industry for many reasons including:

- Incredibly low capital needed (in comparison with other investments)
- Unbelievable amount of growth possible (how many websites are there?)
- Low risk as any good purchase will at worst hold its value
- High growth currently
- Create revenue whilst "flipping"

So stick around, bookmark this forum and ask lots of questions because IMO this is one of the best online industries around for newcomers and now is a great time to enter the market.

How fo you add value to a website though?

By creating a user friendly site... Lots of good content... Posting new articles daily/weekly... There are quite a lot of things... Websites/blogs do get flipped easily for 100-200$... Well you can create a website with aff links in it.... & increase the view by marketing the website everywhere...

I have done this in the past, very easy to do and alot of profit in it and i do mean alot.

The one main thing i worked on was getting a good search engine ranking using SEO, advetising in forums, writing articles, creating squidoo lenses, and occasionally adwords.

My investment was £30 and got a return of £350 within a couple of months. Not big big money but do a couple and it mounts up.

Ye it was worth the wait. It is an easy way of making money. Doesn't cost much to start up either if you look in the right places. If buying a TURNKEY website, just be careful, alot of SEO will need to be done to make it unique, for example adding meta tags, adding alt tags for the images, choosing around 3-4 main keywords and spreaing it out amongst the pages, also making header tags and title tags relevant to your keywords.

Don't get too carried away though because it won't help you or anyone visiting your site. The only trouble with Turnkey sites is there cheap and nasty AND there are millions on the web floating about so to get noticed you need to be unique. Adding backlinks is also a good way to get a good ranking, i had a photo rating website a couple of years ago, i bought it off ebay for £0.99 which was a bargain at the time so i snapped it up.

I started to do some SEO on it because i wanted to know if i could get a good search ranking, i was adding meta tags, changing title tags, header tags, alt tags, anything possible to make it relevant. I then started to search for other photo rating sites which had good pageranks. I setup a links page and started linking to them and within a couple of months i was on page 1 and 2 of yahoo and msn which was good. I was on about page 3 or 4 in google which is rubbish really.

I decided to put it back on ebay and it sold for near enough £60 which is good considering i only bought it to mess around with.

My advice is don't spend alot on a website especially turnkey ones because its just a script which is being sold over and over again. If looking for turnkey websites try looking at warez forums or torrent searches, or even ebay.
