Boost My Wi Fi Signal

I saw a short video on here showing how to improve the signal from the router through the house by making a mini dish lets say from foil and putting on the aeriel of the router. I tried this but it made no difference to my signal. The thing is that my router is up on the third floor(in my loft conversion) and i am trying to use the laptop downstairs wireless and the signal is showing VERY LOW. Is there any way i can boost the signal through the house? if you can PLEASE HELP

Have you tried using "range extenders" that are available?

sorry to appear dense, i am not totally up on all of this kind of stuff, what is it and how do i set it all up and last question where can i get it from? My router is a nergear

You can boost your signal by installing a repeater

where can i get a repeater from and roughly how much am i looking at? third question what range does it boost to?

Well best way is to get more cable and to put your antenna outside!

Or get a router and connect it with Omni Directional ANtenna but thats a bit expensive
